Planet Earth
Have you ever seen our planet from space? No? Neither have I, but others have, those small number who have seen it from the window of a spaceship or from the surface of our own moon. They describe it as the most beautiful sight they have ever seen, like a marble in a sky of blackness. It was hung there by a God who is so creative, we have yet to figure any of it out. I watched a program last night about the 95 moons in our galaxy - 95! And they are all very different, some just floating rocks, others full of exploding light-filled gases, all unique and compelling. Calling us to come, come and explore the vastness of space. It is so true what the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster, repeated over and over, if there is no one else out there, is it surely a waste of space. Space. Time. God. He is the God of time and space and eternity. He is the all in all. The Creator of all that is created. Who can create such a beautiful ball of oceans, seas and lands that rotate perfectly to create seasons of beauty and all of this out of a big handful of NOTHING. That is one difference between humanity and God - we create out of something, He out of absolutely nothing. Planet Earth - our home, at least for this generation of star-gazers. Perhaps our grandchildren will live on a colony of Mars. It only took us three days to fly to the moon!
